Out of the copper kettle it came
Reinforced with herbs and spices , not forgetting the sugar
Drank in a ceramic mug
It’s something to be enjoyed either hot or cold, but
As its Autumn, and Winter is around the corner
Likelihood is you’ll be warming your fingers around the mug holding it

to a big hand
when very little

for eating up
mushed up rusks

as wobbly feet

Mastered over weeks months and years
With help from Mum and Dad

On way to big school
Waving hello to new friends
Thieves of time,
Subtle in their art
As a penny passed tween one weight and another
Carefully counterbalanced
So the cogs of the clock turned round
Just so
Cogs kept moving
The giant hour hand
As minutes passed on by
Whilst the second hand, cried
People stared at their time pieces
Trying to get it back
But the clocks in the town hall square
All wailed out of time
Listen up people…in orchestral chimes
The auditors have been in….and committed a crime…

Time moves
as the Earth goes round
the burning sun
moments pass by
Before the cog
a marker in ground
marked moments in time
shadows of the sun
Mechanical cogs turn
around in circles
turning the time
around and around
Seconds pass into Minutes
as Minutes turn into Hours
and as hours go by
The sun switches with the moon
The clocks second hand keeps moving
along with the earth
pushing the minute hand as
the hours move on
and events recorded by scholars
as the seconds pass on by
kept as a document of time
a thing called History.
