Deliciosa!

#cyw #Macandcheese

Maybe its the twirly pasta i like so much

Allied with the cheese (and occasional onion) that

covers it all over

Could it be the hidden elements – like

Ham, or could it be the variety of cheese you put in

Everything from Emmantal to good old Cheddar

Each different cheese has a taste of its own, giving

something to the dish –

Even Blue cheese – is tasty to more reserved tastes

Toastie I

#Discoverprompts #Food # Toastie

Salford, Sunday 5th April 2020

To many, it’s better than Sunday Lunch

Over the country, they’ve been cooking under the grill

A combination of Ham and Cheese, and sometimes tomato

Sitting under the grill and combining to make a

Totally tasty treat

Instantaneous flavour from bite to bite

End to scrumptious end

Challenge 30 – No10

Food…..or should I say Foooood!

I could be some time with this particular part of the challenge !(sic)

I mean where to begin – I’m a bit of a foodie. I enjoy my food – not just the meats but the pasta and vegetables as well. Christmas time sees a smorgasbord of delights, from Spiced Ham to cheesy pasta bakes – not forgetting of course Christmas pudding and Battenburg Cake

My Nephews are partial to a bit of Jelly and custard at Christmas, and for the adults aside from the Christmas pud, there’s usually the Content for a trifle on the go. But this year they helped make something really special – a tray of gingerbread men…now I don’t know if any of them escaped the Christmas table but one or two of them definitely did a disappearing act…

Ode to a ham

Newbold Verdon, 25th december

The Ham, Mentioned in the verse.

While the children played their games

Under the gaze of the decorated Christmas tree

You sat bathing in a sugary herbal bath

Turning like cleopatra

As you cooked away in the oranges, spices and cloves

Sending sumptuous smells through the house

Till it was time for you to join the vegetables

To the sound of the chef in the kitchen

“Luncheon is served”

Christmas Holidays Humour Poetry

A little something from Father Christmas sr.

It was a few days before Santa Claus was about to do his deliveries

And the elves were busy in their workshop

When a little elf ran up to the big man and handed him a letter

“Dear klaus,” it read…

“Nice to see you and yours doing so well in your work,

Was wondering what you would like for Christmas this year…

Your mums making a ham for lunch…if you and yours would like to come

I’ve got something nice for the reindeer too

Drop me a line when you think you’ll get here

Seasons greetings and All the best

DAD”

The Art of a sandwich

Edible

Some say it begins with

a loaf of bread, nicely sliced – type – to your preference – two slices

next – comes the spread – butter, margarine, salad cream or sandwich spread

dedicated sandwich makers always go for the mayo

when that’s been applied, on goes the salad, lettuce cucumber tomato

If you fancy it, add olives or sweetcorn and then

cover it in your favourite meat before putting the top on

heavenly!!!!

Sandwich

Sandwich

Scouting out the kitchen cupboards

armed with two ciabatta rolls

navigating your way through the meat in the fridge

dark red salami and piquant spiced ham await

with tempting tomato and cool cucumber

in reach in the salad drawer

coming together with mayo in a

heavenly combination

Asparagus

#Coloryourworld #Cyw #Asparagus

asparagus

As far as I know, I’ve never seen your flowers

Some gardeners I’ve spoken to say they’re white, some say yellow

Perhaps they’re both right – but its your green stalks that

Attract the cooking fraternity , as you bathe in butter and herbs

Rolling around the pan developing your flavour

Adorable little stalks, who when departing from the pan are

Going to be joined in a mix, with Parma Ham and an Egg

Until you’ve been eaten – the critics would never understand

Some would say – you’re only good for soup, but the diners know better.

Feast

Feast

Take a crisp blue sky
and a gentle breeze
and add a little heat
Sand or Sea is optional
but a mat or blanket – essential

Sandwiches – Tomato or Cucumber
(or if you prefer) Ham or Beef
prepare a little salad
to serve on the plate beneath

Lemonades a nice drink you might want to take
or maybe a smoothie or ice-cream milkshake
The Grown-ups take coffee – or water for tea
in a well lined thermos – away from the bees

For afters – some fruit or perhaps a pie
Chocolate’s a favourite – I don’t want to lie!
but a nice way to finish this picnic – a dream
is a small bowl of strawberries – topped off with ice cream.

The construction of a sandwich

In response to the prompt
Layers

I’ll freely admit – I used to love going into a certain sandwich shop at Lunchtime.

The ladies and gents were like craftsmen – creating a sandwich, the way I wanted it and with the toppings I desired.

Six kinds of bread – Two Italian style, one with herbs

Would I like it Toasted, Warm, or as is…warming the Italian bread with herbs brought out the flavour so I went with that

then came the Salad – a smorgasbord of salad….Onion, Peppers, Sweetcorn, Olives – not forgetting the regular stuff you would find on your average salad.  For me, Tomatoes and Cucumber was the order of the day, and perhaps sweetcorn and olives if I felt the need

then came the actual meats, Salami, Ham, Pepperoni, or maybe Chicken Teriyaki Italian meatballs?  Go Veggie – you got the smorgasbord with the Veggie Deluxe.

Not Veggie – but didn’t want meat – Tuna was on the menu.

Want sauce – everything from chilli sauce to Marinara if you wanted it

and then to top it all off – “would you like cheese with that”?
