On the day I took this photo – on an island in Greece , i
Undertook a feat, i’d never accomplish
Rallying up a number of steep steps to
Achieve a goal – it made me feel
Great knowing i’d reached the summit and
Enjoyed a cool drink in a nearby Taverna

As the fire took hold of the wood
I watched magical trails rise high in the air
Releasing colourful patterns in the sky
Rhodes ancient buildings painted
Over by Beautiful light
Created by Ignition – rising over walls and
Keep of the old city , bringing smiles to
Excited children and adults alike
Taking vacations on the island

Watched with intent
As Mediterranean blue
Mixed with Aegean aqua
Travelling over waves
As crabs met tentacles
Admiring the land lubbers
Shellfish communicate with conch
The shows about to start
As hermit crabs scuttle towards the bigger fish
In an instant they appear
Waving a fin or a tentacle
In the greenest of blues
Catch of the day
Passes along the hull
To say hello and goodbye
I watched
with my feet still sat in wet sand
as the evening skies faded
like a fire in outer space
day turned slowly into night
and silver fish still circled
as a central point of
fire and ice
waited for the many moons
in the grecian sky to settle in their spots
like diamonds in the sky
A reflection.
Sat a cafe bar on a greek island, enjoying fish and chips
taking in the breeze off the azure blue sea and
observing the comings and goings of the day – when
reactions are heightened by two feathered locals
kept company down the marble path by their owner
! i’d tell you what they were – but i reckon you would guess!
Out in the Grecian sun
whilst sausages are cooking in the chefs pan
turning brown from pink
the restaurants recipients
are lying on sun loungers
or sat on coral sand beach
worshipping Ra above
in a vain attempt
to mimic their luncheon.

She caught my view, in the Cretan sunshine
Casting a watchful eye over the fruits of the island
As our gazes met briefly, we smiled at one-another
Reacting to a momentary attraction
Long haired red head, with eyes of green
Enchanting young lady – with chance to meet at
The next mornings breakfast

could it be chance or fate
every time I see this jewel of a colour
reminisences of holidays come flooding back
usually seen in the skies that met the sea
local buildings , in white were accented with it
each house with a roof door or wall in it
a perfect partner for the olive gardens set
next to the white sandy shoreline

hanging delicately from your branches
in a cast of thousands
your colour casts Down on white chalky soil
as you soak up the rays from the Mediterranean sun
what you hold is prized up and down the land
by the farmer, the chef and the food fan
as you paint the town green
under azure blue skies.
