Rush hour III

The trees are bending

moving to a western tune

played by coming wind

rolling autumn leaves

around tarmac cul-de-sacs

to the alley’s end

follow the brown leaves

and you find them piled up high

by a pelican

some decide to rest

whilst others run the gauntlet

towards the river

final resting spot ?

answer to question – unclear

floating down river

Acrostic Seasons Summer Warm Weather

face in the clouds

Summer sees me ignore the cirrus and and stratus

Taking in the rays peering through summers marshmallows

Reality is – something’s been smiling floating in the air

A smiling cloud, happy in the blue

Tears ? not today…and when Ra gets a little bit to fierce

A fluffy cloud and his chums are there to provide a bit of cover

Floating

Salford 9th April

Like a Marshmallow
on a freshly brewed coffee
they float through the sky

Shifting slowly over rooftops
Drifting across morning
over field town and meadow

Swirling through the Morning Sky
moved by winds east and west
strings of candy coloured cloud move

Early morning Sun
Turns pastel blue into Sunrise yellow
As clouds travel toward the hills

Wisps of Water
Moving across Manchester
Heading for Hilltops

Deplete

They pulled the plug

took its power away

all communication

stopped

Now floating in space

a toy for the little green men

floating in space

with little to do

Above

A whole host of clouds float in

blue skies

over your head

very interesting to look at, but

expect some water to fall if any turn grey

Driftwood

Salford, 3rd February 2018

Detritus floating en-masse down the ship canal

Readily aided by the boats and the water

Is floating aimlessly towards the basin gates

Full stop only happening upon hitting the booms where each stick gangs

Together forming a pretty pattern on the

Waters surface

Overjoyed geese, plunder the booty, piling

One large stick on top of another till a safe place for eggs has been built, whilst

Downstream, a boat with a foriegn name (and crane) is coming to pick up the leftovers

Afloat

After Salford University’s hugging students: More weird world records broken by Brits

Salford 6th January 2017

In response to the daily post prompt Float

A tale of a Rubber Duck Race down the River Irwell in Salford, Lancashire.

There was pandemonium

at the rubber duck factory

as ten thousand streetwise ducks

waddled out of the city

They moved down the irwell

passing the boats

avoiding the locks

and staying afloat

Cows in the cowshed , watched somewhat bemused

and captains of small boats looked somewhat confused

as geese and their brethren all went amuck

following the trail of a little yellow duck

Led by their leaders, of United Red and City blue

passing under bridges and past an audience too

divided in a moment, by a Liverpool ferry

but meeting in middle – and still keeping merry

In the end after journey , down canal they all flocked

meeting at gateway at Mode Wheel Lock

and first one in net, out of water they rised

and their owner received, a very special prize.

Marshmallows

A response to the prompt
Clouds

I saw you floating,
towards your goal in
the sky of blue

Fluffy white marshmallow
up in the sky above
where are you going?

creamy topped wisps
of milky coloured cloud
wait for the wind
nimble little things
accumulate
to form giants
of summer skies

and the cricketers await
your assistance
controlling the corona
of the nearby sun

Whilst others wait

for you to simply

melt away
