Listen….

can you hear it?

as the morning sun

pops its head above the horizon

the rise and fall of the musical local wildlife

discussing the day

can be heard in every green space in the land

news of the morning

new chicks in the nest

meaning more than one food stop

for Mr Sparrow and Mr Blackbird

Trip

#Socs #Trip

I

He’s escaping life for fourteen days

packing his pannier for sun and sand

short cut shirts , shorts, and sporting trainers

sun protection a must – as well as the wide brimmed hat

something formal for the evening meal

II

Speeding across the sand at speed

like Hasselhoff in his beach shorts

excited ladies looking past their sunspecs

engaging a view of the sporty type

III

Pride normally comes before a fall

reactions to our hero hitting the sand – understandable

instead of enjoying haute cuisine

dinner comes courtesy of the local hospital

engaged by an IV Drip

Hazard

Holes in the pavement

and black ice – dont really make good conditions for

zipping about on a winters morning

as one or the other will see you flat on your back or

rolling about on the floor – worse still – the

drop might see you in a hospital bed

Peach, Sliced – by Inky

A response to Aubade: Some Peaches, After Storm by Carl Phillips you can read his poem Here

Perhaps the idea of

eating a bruised peach

after its fell headlong towards the ground

could be considered

hell on earth to a fruit connoisseur

Put in a pan

enveloped with

a mix of butter and sugar, and a spot of spice

combined with a light soft sponge ?

heavenly

Clouds in blue sky (Image created in painter , photo by inky)

You just know it’s coming

there’s a patch of blue – but its covered in grey

lakes of water now pool in the recesses

of tarmac roads

the last of the water travels slowly

towards the open grid

while the other clouds tease you

to nip out without an umbrella

come out and play – they say

ready to throw a bucket or two

at you

more than one penny dropped

on the fall to the ground

vision went haywire while

every single memory

moved around like scrambled eggs

expectation – another rendezvous with the

to fix the problems caused by the drop

Back together again

The Hero of our tale! (with accompanying support from Inky)

It’s not easy being me….

I took a fall from a window

and went into flight

aided by the northwest wind

I went to pieces, without assistance

My head and legs went different places

I thought – “that’s it!” – and went to bits

as i thought i’d played my aces

But from the kerb and the grass

i saw a hand pass

and head and body did rise

(to my upmost surprise!)

I looked up at the lad,

as i went good from bad

and we headed back home

a new place to roam

So i sit on the shelf, thankful for health

with other model toys – oh joy of joys

enjoying my place – in my safety of space

and spending time as i can – a new lego man.

Perhaps it wasn’t such a great idea

Over your feet you fell

In pursuit of the

Scaly creature hiding in the cave

Everyone said it would catch you before it

Doyouthinkhesaurus ? most definately

A Cat-astrophe

Plop

Blackpoolsketch.jpg

6th September 2016

The scene Blackpool promenade – a local fish and chip emporium

family of four – Mum,Dad and two boys eating , outside in the summer sun – what else but fish? – haddock and chips

the two lads are asked would they like an ice cream

they say yes – meanwhile in the distance a seagull is watching from a safe distance

One asks for Strawberry the other Vanilla – and the boys wait patiently for their ice creams to be delivered.

The Fish shops cat appears into the Blackpool sunshine,  purring away in the hope for some scraps of fish. She follows the waitress, from just a few paces away, as the seagull makes its move. The seagull swoops in – and is stopped by the cat – just as the waitress delivers the ice creams

Chaos ensues, as the cat and seagull rumble for goodies under poor waitresses feet. The Ice Creams land off target and an odd plate of leftovers lands on the floor

Cue the owner – avec sweeping brush and an assistant with two more ice creams – on the house – Cut to a Cat with the spoils and the Seagull with the scraps.

Nursery Crime

#Children #Learning #Nursery #Rhymes #Published

Occasionally, the stuff I write on the Allpoetry.com website and Foreward poetry websites gets published

This poem originally appeared as an entry for Poetry Rivals back in 2013…  Those who read it on the board liked it – so I polished it adding an additional verse (and a little intrigue) and placed in Allpoetry.com

Humpty dumpty was sat on a wall,
Humpty dumpty had a great fall.
When he fell, he cracked and looked a bit Mushed
Sources say – he may have been pushed!

Reports from the scene, say the Mad March Hare
pushed over poor Humpty as part of a dare!
But the Hatter says th’ Hare is innocent of th’crime
as they were having tea with Alice at th’time.

The Kings horses and men are all stood on guard,
By the scene of the crime, in the castle yard
Inspector Horner, or jack to his face
(the great nursery detective ace)
has been assigned to look after the case!

with his partner Jill,
and Brown bears three
Horner says th’case
will be solved by Tea!

So they’re starting today
and off in a rush
to see who gave Humpty
that horrible push!

Who committed this crime,
is anyone’s guess
but Horner and his team
will sort out the mess.
