Blueprint of a design

Desired ideas from the craftsmens heads

extruded onto paper

some say its an artwork in itself as

individual pieces of a building, product or vehicle

get shown on paper

noting their structures and little quirks

Crazy Paving

#fowc #Crazy

Crazy Paving (By Inky)

Colourful trail leading up the garden path

rocky slabs laid at really strange angles

at first, you might think – some mad

zany designer had taken a hammer to your pavement, but

you would be wrong – each

piece has been placed on purpose

as you look carefully – each bit of stone comes into

view as part of the picture as a whole

in time you’ll spot a scene as the pieces come together

navigating their way down the garden, and

greeting visitors – welcome to our house!

Fashion on the Ration

Salford 5th January 2017

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES

This afternoon, I’ve been helping out at Imperial War Museum North just over the bridge from Salford, by the banks of the Manchester ship canal.

Regular readers will know I help out with the computers on the “Your History” information point and throughout the Main exhibition space.  Well, Today I’ve been directing visitors by the special gallery and giving assistance where necessary.

Clothes from Rationed Fabric.

The special gallery covers the time in British history where clothes were rationed, in order to preserve fuel and resources during war time.

As part of the exhibition – a special handling collection has been created, by some of the volunteers with help from the museum staff.  This is shown on our Information station, where volunteers and veterans talk about specific objects and the tales behind them.

Interior

interior

2nd January 2017

It’s that place away from the winter weather,

never understated – because it’s yours

tables and chairs in the kitchen-cum-diner, settee and TV in the lounge

each room containing its own mark made by you

rugs with interesting patterns laid on hard wood floors

intrinsic patterns that took an age to fit

on the whole – its the way you thought it out, a

really nice, warm and inviting home.

A humble design

#napowrimo #day28 #building #museum #poetry #Manchester #story #backtofront

Telling tales of conflict to all

Holding time in its heart like a baby

Our precious planet has been broken by war

As earth air and water are captured in aluminium

On the dockside it rises from the ground

This mighty metal building has a tale to tell

Small in scale, but a giant on the banks of the water

Broken in pieces by a man with a message

It began with a humble teapot
