Stillness

Salford 4th May

#stillness #writeclub

Calmness lives across the bay

No golden trams rumbling past

No ripples or young fish at play

No parties of football fans starting to mass

Somewhere beyond the water deep

The King of the Salmon is down in his keep

But with no other fisherman making them leap

He’s resting among greenery – fast asleep

The trees by the water – are eerily still

No wind to speak of – so they aren’t bending at will

The wildlife sit in the branches of trees

As the mercury rises by a couple of degrees

And strange as it is – the birds make no noise

Sat on their metal perch – with perfect poise

Watching the bubbles of the fish in the Deep

Watching the fish in their home – fast asleep

Deep

#SoCs #Deep

Salford 4th April 2020

It’s hard to really appreciate the dish

without taking some time over it

the fish – had been swimming with others

free to explore – developing

evading all predators –

from the polar bear in the north

to the seals and penguins in the south

all to be caught by a net

trawled to a port and

cooked up by a chef

battered within an inch of its old life

in oil so hot – it almost leapt onto the plate

and served by a waitress, Annette

while eaten by the regulars with chips and peas

its eaten by the gastronome

with lemon and tartar sauce……Flavour? DEEP!

Challenge 30 – No. 28

“Depth”

Down among the depths, taken at the Sea life centre, Old Trafford, Manchester

Deep down on the sea bed

Eager crustaceans

Play cat and mouse with

The fishermen up above them, and

Hoping they avoid the fishermans traps as they

Scurry along the sandy sea bed

Risky

Risky

Really you took health and safety and chucked it out,

If you thought skidding across the frozen pond was a good idea

Swans, geese and gulls watched in amusement, as you

kept testing the thinness of the pond ice

You’ve been told, but won’t listen….till you go in

Midnight Salford

To start with, here’s a night time shot of the Holiday inn express on Salford’s Quayside, taken at Dusk by one of the Docks or as the people call them now basins 🙂

You could call this a 3D shot – as it was Dark as well !

Heritage pic

The canal is pretty Deep, and joins up to the river irwell and mersey

Ducks!
The Ducks of Oludeniz – taking cover from the sun

This shot was taken during a family holiday to the Turkish Resort of Oludeniz.  The beach was teaming with wildlife, maybe down to the hordes of fish that sat in the clear blue waters by the sand.  The Ducks raised a smile as they waddled about in the sea.

Shallow

Salford, 29th July 2017

Shallow

Some say its easy, splashing your feet along the sea on a

Hot summers day, but its important to be

Aware of your surroundings

Lots of people like to dive into that

Long stretch of blue water –

Only they know their limitations

When they wade into it – don’t go in too deep!

Tiggers of the Deep

Down in the deep blue
a family of tiger fish
settle down for their dinner.
And lights from passing starfish
allow Tiggers of the deep
to enjoy their nice lunch
then go off to sleep.
As Dogfish, Catfish and Crustaceans all
decide to have a night-time ball
as they make a late night excursion
to a sunken trawlers wall
