A piece from write club (it may be the third of Jan – but thats when i wrote it)

The clockwork machine stopped working

Its stylus stopped writing on the paper

As ideas rose in the air like a hot air balloon

The engine wheels moving by minature mice

The cogs grinding away to keep the processes working

As cold air filled the room, frosty particle clung to every crevice and corner

holding each thought icily in its grasp

Signs thought the mice – somethings happening

which made the clockwork machine chime away

happy as can be – Santa’s landed on the office roof!

Up on a shelf i spotted a conversation taking place

my little lego man talking to one of my model bears

compared to some of my other old bears – he’s the smallest

but compared to the lego men – he’s huge 🙂

Fortunately, the lego man sits on a spot where he won’t go to pieces

Sat by a soldier in his guards post, where he’s watching the airfix planes 🙂

27th February 2019

As the sun dipped below the horizon

and changed shift with his pal the moon

something constant kept on moving

second hand moving the minutes

whilst the hour hand waited to move forward

and a marker sat like a sentry

ready to fire a fifteen gun salute

cats birds and dogs, creep outside slowly

wailing beyond the double glazed glass

and the cogs keep the hands moving

till the minute hand meets the marker

and hammer meets bell – time to get up.

Light permeated through the window pane

as the clock chimed eight

passing through the curtains and

landing as a spray of colour on the floor

and simultaneously, the radio lets everyone know,

news current for the day just as the

door opens and the elves get to work
