Furry Bear

#Cyw #Fuzzywuzzybrown

Sat by his cave , somewhere in the zoo

a relative of your old pal – winnie the pooh

climbing his branches , carefully placed

and giving his luncheon a bit of a taste

looks out at the crowd like it’s a TV

and then he goes off – in search of honey

Poem or Prose in 28 Words – Okay!!!!

Polar bears are partying

under nights light show

the snow is twinkling

with various different colours

moving about on ice

like the mirrorball chasing

the disco floor beams

At the zoo

Zoo

A poem , written on a visit to Edinburgh zoo, with my nephews and the rest of the family

I went to the zoo today,

Saw a small elephant play.

A Tiger with stripes and great big paws

and a Lion with Mane and great big claws!

but that wasn’t everything i saw

Today

Went to the Zoo today,

Saw a spotted leopard sleeping in a bush

as a black panther hid among the brush

and cubs with their mums in such a rush

Today

I went to the zoo today,

and saw the chimps and monkeys at play

Gorillas on trees, swatting off fleas

and Marmosets hanging off branches by their knees!

Today

I Went to the zoo today,

saw buzzards and other birds of prey

‘gainst grand scottish hills

enjoying their scraps and swoops and spills

as i ate my lunch from a restuaurant grill

today

I went to the zoo today,

and saw other animals play.

Saw a Golden Bear, swinging from a tree,

and Monkeys and Gibbons eating their tea,

(Loads of cheeky Chimpanzees!)

and Penguins underwater – like in the sea

swimming past windows – and looking at me

Knitted

Knit

Knights of the realm could be toppled by this – but

Not my mum, or my aunties or Nanna

Its where i learned some very basic steps

To create a scarf for my teddy bear.

To be honest, the twists and turns of loops and purls were

Extremely difficult, but by the end of the month – i’d

Done one that was just the thing for a bear in the cold

Rescued from the reject bin

Salford, 17th November 2017

Patchedupbear

Imperfection

A little dusty here or there

his coat could do with a mend

stuffing coming from a paw

this old bear needs a friend

See all the animals are off to the shops

apart from those that look like they’ve been dropped

now little bear, he wouldnt really mind

if the factory would be a little bit kind

A button for his jacket

and some thread for his paw

and a chance to be hugged

nothing less, nothing more

But just as factory is being shut down

a little lad is being shown round

over by bin – he sees the bear’s frown

and little bears luck is turned around

For in days to come, what fun there will be!

With new tops and buttons – and teddy bears teas…

He may be imperfect – said the boy as he roamed

but he’s my favorite bear – as they head off for home!

Happy Winnie-the-pooh day!

winnie-the-pooh-day

Wednesday 18th January 2017

I’ll be posting another piece from my notebooks later, but I’ve just been informed – c/o my Facebook and Twitter feeds…that it’s Winnie-the-pooh day.

and being an ardent Ursinian (that’s a fan of the Great Bear) – I thought i’d share this as it popped up on my public feed…. Pooh and one of the bees from the honey tree 🙂

Given I’ve been entitled to doing something special for an hour in the day – I might just peruse my big book of Winnie the pooh stories – by AA Milne, and enjoy a little something sweet while i’m reading it…

Have a great day folks!

A suitcase by the back door

In response to Suitcase

smallcase

It’s a little thing,

Just the right size for a little person

containing all those essentials you need

for a holiday on the beach

T-shirts and shorts – in a rainbow of colours

vests and underpants – to keep out the wind

and just in case – his blue raincoat to keep out the rain

(not that its going to)

a book to read at bedtime

and the most important things – his crayons, notepad and..

(last but not least) – his teddy bear

(Mum and Dad are bringing everything else !)

The Accomplished Traveller

While out on Holiday to Oledeniz in Turkey – I took along a very special guest

My little mascot – Bean Bear!  He’s a winnie-the-pooh beanbag that’s been

up and down the uk and to places in Spain, Greece, and Turkey with me.  For some reason,

he makes me calm when i’m on plane journeys…and that’s probably down to the fact the bigger

version of him  was used to calm me down when I was in hospital facing an operation.

Little Yellow Bear (The Accomplished Traveller)

A different place,

a different wall.

He sits on the bed,

Where he knows he won’t fall.

He’s travelled to places,

both far and of wide,

he likes the warm sunshine,

but prefers inside.

He’s the small yellow bear,

who reminds you you’re home

whether out on the sands,

or under a dome.

And he’ll sit there on

His nice new spot.

With the cool breeze

He likes that a lot!
And he’ll stay with you there,

till you head for the beach

when he’ll stay in your pocket,

he’s not out of reach.

And he’ll stay till it’s time

to get back in your case

and it’s time to go home

or to some other place.

Lark Hill Place
Salford Art Gallery

As you walk into Lark Hill Place,

and head over limestone and cobbled space

at the end of the street, something catches young eyes

in Radcliffe’s toyshop there on by

Stuffed toy animals, puzzles and blocks

Snakes and Ladders, and marbles from rocks.

Noah’s ark, animals – punch and judy too

Made for the kid who’s after summat new.

Whipping tops provide a young lad with a smile,

whilst saving his pocket money for a brief while

praying that Santa will deliver of course

a brand new and wonderful bright rocking horse

But for now he’ll play marbles wi’ kids on the street

and then after chores head to shop for a treat

then he’ll play with his animals on the step or in th’park

before heading for bed – just before dark.

Under his tree.

Yes, its time for tea.

The bees work by day and by night

Making

Delicious, Delightful, Honey

And he will enjoy the
