Squadron

A write club acrostic, written by inky.

#Imperialwarmuseum #Airfix #Planes #Squadron #Military #Aircraft

Sat atop a great height

quite a few planes, old and new

used to being in hangars, have found

a home by the waters of a canal

definitely a peacetime operation

red arrows escorting a Spitfire veteran and

other D-Day participants – resting on their runway

new recruits ready to escort them from another bookshelf

To pass the time during lockdown – i’ve been building

A few planes and Jet Fighters to pass the time

Now, today i’ve made something a little different

Keep your eyes peeled and you may see what rolled up today

D-Day Spitfire Airfix – Made and Photographed by BF Kirkham.

A poetry piece by B.F. Kirkham.

There’s a bucket of wings on the table,

but this ain’t no KFC

You’re there with your mates at the ready

and take home a plane for free

You pick up the pieces as listed

the fellow from museum there to help

as your classmates fumble with pieces

and boys and girls start to yelp

Behind you is the perfect model –

they tell you it took men all those years

as part of the wing it does come off

and it almost brings you to tears

Patience – comes call from behind you

as you fiddle with the pieces for a while

it won’t take you long – and you can’t get it wrong

as the teacher gives you a smile

Suddenly it all comes together

the tail end the wings and the prop

resembling that big plane behind you

and its something you don’t want to drop

So you say ta to the model instructor

with your plane that’s been made paid and mended

and your classmates all fly, those planes from time gone by

before the trip to the museum is ended.

The bears move house

The new residents

As regular readers of my blog will know, I’ve been shifting things around to accommodate my new bits of aerial artwork, namely my quickbuild planes from airfix

They’re now all happily parked on the top of my bookshelves, so when little paws show up with my sister…they won’t get accidentally broken

However, this has meant the little Disney toys I picked up from the Disney store in Manchester have had to find a new spot to sit.

Pooh bear and chums, in their new home

They’re now sat on a lower bookshelf looking after the books, which they’re sat in front of. This means my nephews can pick them up and play with them as they want, without disturbing any of the squadron.

German Me 106

The formation of the squadron

came with a moment

Chassis and Wings coming together

with a single click

as planes from the past

joined up with their more younger cadets

on top of the bookshelves

American P51 Mustang Jet

and to stop two old veterans squabbling

they’ve each been given a runway

to stop them falling to pieces
