Advent II

Christmas countdown starts today

Heaven looking down as the first candle on the

Resplendent wreath is lit

It’s four sundays till the

Special event, but on these days

There’s less focus on turkey and tinsel,

More the reason we celebrate the day

Advent calendars count down each day , that the

Saviour arrived.

Can you hear the sleigh bells yet ?

Salford, 28th November 2020

I’m not feeling particularly festive at present.

Its Dark and cold outside, as the last of November’s nights draw in

and yes, that means, the run to the festive season has already started

Tomorrow – is “Advent Sunday”, and i’m guessing the advent calendars will be on the walls of every kid in the neighbourhood.

Of course, things are slightly different with a health lockdown in place.

They’ll be lighting the first of the Advent candles at church, but we’ll all be watching from the safety of our computer screens.

I just hope, we’ll either see little blister and the nephews in and around the lifting of lockdown, or we’ll have a “Spring Christmas” when it’s safe to do so.

Perhaps , its the lack of Tinsel and a Tree in the Front Room that’s causing my spot of melancholy…..

<HEX> HEY! – I WANNA SEE THE HOGFATHER!!!!

Christmas is almost here

As they lit the third candle on the advent wreath

Nativity plays are being practiced

Down in school halls up and down the land as

Lit number of candles is three

Excitement is building – the lords almost here!

Advent

As far as I know it, the countdown to Christmas day has begun

December starts tomorrow morning, when

Vergers and other officers of the church will be

Engaging with the parishioners about the upcoming

Nativity celebrations

Taking place in the cathedral on Christmas Eve

Countdown to Christmas

Tuesday 11th December

A little treat, hides behind the

Doors of the advent calendar

Veiled behind some cardboard and foil

Each door has something tasty behind it

Noting the days passing

Towards Christmas Day

Candle

Sunday 2nd December 2018

#advent #candle #christmas

Creating light out of darkness

A sign of new things to come

Now that advent is underway each

Decorated candle will be

Lit bringing light to the house and as

Each candle is lit, Christmas comes closer

First day of the countdown

Salford, 1st december 2018

It’s that time of year again, boys and girls

Since a fortnight…. I’ve been putting it off, under the guise of the final days of the poppy celebration and little blisters birthday

However today marks the start of the Advent season, and if I’ve seen one Christmas advert I’ve seen hundreds.

Once again…it’ll be a low key affair. The elves, are currently floating around my sisters place, keeping an eye on my nephews…I’ll have to find something special to go with their regular pressies.

Sparkle

Salford 2nd December 2017

The first days of advent always bring an air of magic.

I think it might be the sight of the Christmas tree

bright shiny metallic tinsel draped around the dark green fronds

Deep Reds, Dark Greens, Frosty Whites and Blues

Not forgetting the silver and golds

but even the advent colours of purple and pink look nice in a metallic sheen

who can forget the lights reflecting in the coloured glass baubles ?

and at the top of the tree, a Star or an Angel dancing over the fairy-lit tree
